all Aerial classes must be booked How does this compare to a regular yoga class? When a yoga posture is done correctly there is little pressure on the joints and the spine lengthens. This is very difficult for most people to achieve on their own. The aerial sling assists you into yoga poses without the usual compression in the spine and joints. Gravity will ease you into optimal alignment with very little effort. If you already practice yoga, adding an aerial class will give you new insight into the poses and your body. Let your flexibility, strength and coordination unfold in a new way Unnata Aerial Yoga is a new type of yoga which uses a hammock/sling as a tool to help students achieve challenging yoga poses with ease and is therefore appropriate for people of all ages and levels of skill The hammock helps hold the body in the poses while supporting body weight. Many people find using the hammock easier than practicing yoga in the traditional way. Gravity eases us into optimal alignment with very little effort and the effect of the poses can be enhanced through relaxation and deep breathing. Inversions and other challenging poses are easily done without pressure on the joints. Transitioning in and out of the poses builds upper body and core strength and teaches the body to work as a cohesive unit. Each class ends with a relaxation period in the hammock, providing a feeling of peace and thereby rounding off a balanced practice. FUNdamentals: Tuesdays at 6pm, Fridays kl 11 00, Saturday at 11 00 Advanced yoga postures like headstand and deep backbends can take years to access on the yoga mat. Using the aerial hammock makes these types of postures, and their effects, easily achievable. Learn to use the hammock to let you stretch deeply and relax! We will explore different postures that are accessible to all. Flying Fitness: Thursdays at 6 30pm This class builds amazing upper body and core strength and awareness. Each class includes aerial and acroyoga conditioning, using the aerial hammock and the floor. Expect to learn fun tricks in the hammock, hold and move your own body weight in the air while having fun! For best results, students should commit to taking all 4 classes. Some of the benefits of Aerial yoga are: • Decompression of joints • Relieving pressure while aligning the spine • Performing advanced yoga inversions without neck or back compression • Holding challenging yoga poses longer and in correct alignment • Stretching further with less strain • Adding an entirely new dimension to your Yoga practice • Creating better body awareness while increasing overall agility and strength It is best not to eat anything heavy up to 2 hours before the class. Wear comfortable workout or yoga clothes which cover your armpits (cotton tshirt, no nylong) and knees and remove any bulky jewelry that could get caught in the hammock. Bring a clean pair of socks too! Bring your yoga mat if you have one (if not you can use one of ours). Show up with an open mind and be ready for some fun!
